Privacy Policy
HoneyTrackr (the “Service”) is operated by Love and Honey Bee Company (“we,” “us,” or “our”). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you use HoneyTrackr, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have.
By using HoneyTrackr you agree to the practices described here. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the Service.
1. What we collect
Account information
When you create a HoneyTrackr account we collect your email address and full name. If you sign in with Apple, Google, or Microsoft, we receive your name and email from that provider (and nothing else). We do not store passwords for OAuth sign-ins; for email/password sign-ups we store an industry- standard hashed password.
Beekeeping data you enter
Everything you log in the app: apiary names and ZIP codes, hive names and metadata (queen breed, color, year, source, supplier, equipment configuration), inspection notes, mite counts and treatments, feeding events, harvest records, and action-history events generated as you make changes. This is the core of what the Service does.
Photos
Photos you upload as inspection frame photos, hive portraits, or apiary photos. Photos are stored in our cloud storage provider (see Third-party services below) and, if you opt in, sent to our AI provider for analysis (see AI photo analysis below).
Sensor data
If you use a TempTrackr sensor, the temperature, humidity, and battery readings the sensor reports are stored and associated with the hive you paired it to.
Subscription and purchase information
If you subscribe to a paid plan, we record which tier you have and when it expires. Actual payment processing is handled entirely by Apple (in-app purchases on iOS), Google Play (on Android), or Shopify (on the web) — we never see your full payment card.
Technical information
Standard server logs (IP address, browser or device type, timestamps of requests) and minimal in-app error reports so we can fix bugs.
2. How we use your information
- To provide the Service: store your beekeeping data, render your apiaries and hives, run the features you use.
- To improve the Service: aggregated, anonymized usage patterns help us decide what to build.
- To communicate with you about your account or critical service updates.
- To detect and prevent abuse, fraud, or misuse.
We do not sell your personal information. We do not show ads inside HoneyTrackr.
3. Third-party services
We rely on a small set of trusted vendors to run HoneyTrackr. Your data may pass through these providers under their own privacy practices:
- Supabase — hosts our database, file storage, and authentication. Your beekeeping data and photos live here.
- Anthropic — provides the AI vision and language model used for inspection briefings and frame photo analysis (only if you opt in; see AI section below).
- RevenueCat — processes iOS and Android in-app purchases.
- Shopify — processes web subscription purchases.
- Resend — sends transactional emails (invite emails, account notifications).
- Render — hosts our backend API server and this website.
- Apple, Google, Microsoft — if you sign in with one of these providers, they verify your identity and pass us your name and email.
4. AI photo analysis
HoneyTrackr offers optional AI-powered features that analyze your inspection frame photos and beekeeping data to generate pre-inspection briefings, frame-level findings, and apiary- level insights. These features are powered by Anthropic’s Claude AI model.
Consent is required. The first time you sign in, we ask whether you want to enable AI features. You can change your mind at any time in Settings. When AI is enabled:
- The relevant photo and structured data are sent to Anthropic’s API to generate a response.
- Anthropic does not train models on data sent through its API.
- The generated text response is stored alongside your hive record so you can see the briefing again later.
AI-generated content is a helper, not a substitute for the judgment of a beekeeping mentor, club, or state apiarist. Always confirm high-stakes decisions with a qualified human.
5. Bluetooth sensor data
If you pair a TempTrackr sensor, your phone connects to the sensor over Bluetooth Low Energy. The sensor reports temperature and battery readings to our backend; we store them and associate them with the hive you paired the probe to. We do not access any other Bluetooth devices on your phone.
6. Data retention
We retain your beekeeping data for as long as your account is active. Server logs are retained for up to 90 days for operational and security purposes. After you delete your account, your data is removed from our active systems immediately and from backups within 30 days.
7. Deleting your account and data
You can delete your HoneyTrackr account at any time from Settings → Danger zone in the app. Deleting your account permanently removes your apiaries, hives, inspections, mite records, feedings, harvests, photos, and authentication record. We cannot reverse a deletion.
If you are an invited team member rather than an account owner, deleting your account removes your access and authentication record only; the account owner’s data is untouched.
8. Children’s privacy
HoneyTrackr is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
9. Security
We use industry-standard practices to protect your data: encryption in transit (HTTPS everywhere), encrypted database backups, scoped service credentials, and row-level security to keep one user’s data isolated from another’s. No system is perfectly secure; if you spot a vulnerability, please contact us.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we make a material change we’ll update the “Last updated” date at the top and, for significant changes, notify you by email or in the app before the change takes effect.
